The 3rd Annual LakestoPines Triathlon & Kids Triathlon are sponsored by
the Park Rapids Panthers Swim Boosters Club.
The Booster Club will use the proceeds from these events to support the 
little Panthers swim program and 
the Panther High School swimming program.

Time and Date/Rules and Regulations


Race Date is Saturday, May 15, 2010.

LakestoPines Triathlon - Race starts at 9:00 a.m.

Kids Triathlon - Kids race starts after all LakestoPines participants have finished 
(approximately 11:30 a.m.).

No outside assistance in any portion of the race.

Must present photo ID with check-in.

All competitors will need to have their race number marked on right arm and leg before the competition.  
Check-in and body marking starts at 7:00 a.m.

Race participant substitutions are not allowed..

Transition area:  No glass.  All participants must return their bicycles to designated corrals.
Only race participants will be allowed to pick up bicycles.

No dogs allowed on the course.

Race directors reserve the right to make race course changes as necessary.

Swim
There will be different swim waves based on the estimated 500 yard time you provide on the registration.
There will be little to no warm-up time in the pool between waves depending on how long it takes each wave to finish.
All swimmers will start in the pool.
Circle swim after the first length to the right of the lane line on the bottom.
Tickle the feet of the swimmer ahead to pass but remember that you will seem to be swimming faster when drafting.
Make the pass over the lane line or the lead swimmer should yield on the turn.
 Lap counters will be assigned to each lane. 
The orange card indicates you are done.
Fins, snorkels and life preservers are not permitted in the swim.
The swim split is recorded as you leave the transition area..
Call out your number to insure that the split timers record your time.
Relay teams must tag off in the transition zone.

Bike
Bike Helmets which meet current safety standards mandatory for all participants.
You must have your helmet on and chin strap fastened when leaving the transition area.
You cannot mount your bike until you are out of the transition area at the start of the bike.
You must dismount your bike before you enter the transition area at the end of the bike.
The Bike Route is a double loop route on paved roads. 
Traffic control will be provided, but for your safety, we ask that you also remain alert and yield to traffic if necessary.
No drafting:  each bicycle has an imaginary box 2 meters wide x 7 meters long.
You have 15 seconds to travel through another's space when passing.
Relay teams must tag off in the transition zone.
Bike and Run Courses

Run
For your safety, No Headphones, ipods, mp3 players or personal audio devices are to be carried or worn at any time during the race.  
The Run Course follows and crosses residential roads which are well traveled at times.
Traffic control will be provided, but for your safety, we ask that you also remain alert and yield to any traffic.

Course Description




Swim: 500 yard swim will be held in the Park Rapids High School Pool.
Bike: Double Loop 14.7 mile ride on paved roads.
Run: 5K run on a fast, out-and-back course finishing
on the High School Track.



Swim: 50 yard swim will be held in the Park Rapids High School Pool.
Bike:  1 mile ride around High School Parking Lot
Run: 300 yard run finishing on the High School Track.

Awards ceremony will take place at the High School Track.

Special Awards will be given to:  top overall - Male, top overall - Female
top Male & Female in each Age Group.
Relays:  first overall All Male Relay team, first overall All Female Relay team, and
first overall Co-ed relay Team

All finishers receive a medal and refreshments.

Awards will be given to top individual in each age group - male and female.



Age Categories




Individual: 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64,
65-69, and 70+ (males and females)
Relay Teams: Two or three person teams—Male (all male members), Female (all female members)
and Coed (combination male & female members)
You cannot participate in both individual and team competitions.



Individual Racers Only: 8 and under, 9-10, 11-12



2009 Packet Pick-up


Friday, May 14 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Park Rapids High School
OR
Saturday, May 15 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.

There will be a SPAGHETTI DINNER served on Friday, May 14.
It will be served at the Park Rapids High School simultaneously with the packet pick-up,
and the cost is a free will donation.
